The Beginning...
Be honest with you, it is my first time blogging. Thus, I feel a little bit nervous. It is not because I worry about how well I could write or if it really makes sense to you... but because of this question. Who really cares about how I feel or what I want to share? So many people are out there, and they all have feelings, insights, and frustrations about things they experience. But why mine? Why does this Korean-born, Seventh-day Adventist church pastor's reflection matter?
Well, here is my hope. I hope that some of you may resonate with me and my feelings and that you can relate to me. I think it matters if anyone... ANYONE, even one person, can be encouraging by relating to my story.
Coming back to the "why" question, however, relating to somebody is not why I want to begin blogging tho. To be exact, It is more about me and my existence. Not in a selfish or narcissistic way, but rather, it is more of a reflection of myself on the universe around me.
Universe?
Yes, THE UNIVERSE.
As much as the universe is big and significant, its significance is only acknowledged when someone like me reflects on the meaning of it to my existence. I know some of you may think I am crazy. Writing the first blog made me crazy, I guess. Making my own world (in this case, it is the blog webpage) is exciting. At the same time, it forces me to think about why I am doing what I am doing.
As I reflect on this, I remember Genesis 1:1.
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." (NKJV).
What was God thinking when He created the heavens and the earth? Could it be the thought I had? Who really cares? God is described as an almighty, powerful God who could do anything He wants, and heavenly beings were already there to show their respect and worship Him all the time. But why? The earth? why did He begin this plan? He is an all-knowing God who must have known that creating the earth may require the cross... why did He even begin? Perhaps God had the same question as I do. Who cares about my work and my story?
As I said, I would be thrilled to see one person resonate with my reflections on the universe; maybe God is the same way. He would be thrilled to see even one person resonate with His thoughts and ideas. If I can relate to God, my blog may be significant to the world and the universe God created. I know I am small and like nothing, but I can at least add meaning to the existence of the world God created.
I am not saying my blog is awesome, like God's creation work. But in this first blog, I imagine God's thought as He created the heavens and the earth.
Let's see where this journey takes me. It may continuously be sharing some lights. I will see how it goes. One thing is for sure: beginning something new for the first time is exciting.
